'Use of the Triangle'

The setting up of the 15 red ball pyramid in the game of snooker is taken for granted in most places that have a Billiard Table installed, be it a Club - Works - or Private home. Watch anyone within your club they will do one of two things when setting up the pyramid:

(a) place the triangle on the table and drop the balls into it - move the triangle into position - remove and leave ready for play.

(b) gather the balls onto the top cushion and place the triangle over them - running it into position - remove and leave ready for play. Whilst either of these proceedures achieve the correct positioning of the balls.

(a) is wrong as one should never drop a ball onto a table from no matter what height
(b) is half right and half wrong.

The correct proceedure is as follows --- gather the balls onto the top cushion forming the pyramid then place the triangle half way down over the balls and place (roll) into required position, THE 'TRIANGLE' SHOULD NEVER COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE TABLE AS THIS CAUSES DRAG MARKS ON THE CLOTH, thereby causing more wear than there would be normally.
