'Billiard
Table Cloths'
(for British type billiard tables with 'Napped' cloth)
A RECOMMENDED RECOVER FOR ALL CLUB TABLES WHERE MEMBERS
PLAY IN A LEAGUE IS EVERY - 2 YEARS, SHOULD ANY CLUB GO LONGER
THAT THIS PERIOD THEN A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS ARISE.
- When left a further
- say three months - then cloths really show excessive wear, the 'nap'
of the cloth starts to become too short to be effective when it comes
to good play especially with shots involving pull back, swerve and
forcing shots.
- However, it is
not advisable to change the cloths during a season, such a time is
no good for players, especially League players.
- During the first
two years after a recover takes place the 'nap' of the cloth used,
is still effective and with regular service visits the tables will
maintain a standard that is required for good play. If however, should
a club decide not to recover after the 2 year period then the cloths
deteriorate quite quickly especially around the spots and corner pockets
where the cloths become indented causing members to believe that the
slates have a groove in them!, this is of course not the case but
simply that the fibres of the cloth, which are very delecate, have
been crushed to a point of no return.
Bearing in mind
the above points we strongly reccomend that all league clubs stick to
a two year plan to ensure good playing conditions.
